The Foundation was established as a result of the negotiations on Jewish war claims in the Netherlands.. In the settlement between the Dutch Jewish community, the Dutch Jews in Israel, and the Dutch government, it was agreed to allocate part of the Dutch government s contribution toward a fund supporting projects dedicated to Jewish life in  ...   based on the principles of human rights and tzedakah.. Tzedakah is not a privilege but a moral right.. The aim of tzedakah is to establish a just society.. These principles are embedded in the Jewish tradition.. In Leviticus XIX (9) is the admonition "not [to] wholly reap the corners of thy field" but to leave them for the poor.. The JHF logo (a rectangle with a corner cut off) symbolizes these values..

Building and ensuring the continuity of Jewish communities in such areas as culture, knowledge transfer, and enhancement of the non-capital infrastructure;.. The JHF has a strong preference to support local organizations in Central and Eastern Europe.. Organizations should not be registered in the Netherlands.. Organizations cannot have its activities in the Netherlands and may not be related to the Dutch-Jewish community in Israel.. The JHF has a special interest in:.. - Projects that are directed towards a clear and viable strategy to become less dependent on foreign donors;.. - Organizations which achieve local funding for its activities.. Which organizations and/or projects are the most likely to be awarded a grant?.. Local organizations in Central and Eastern Europe have a strong preference.. Organizations and projects dedicated to building and ensuring the continuity  ...   institutions/organizations will receive preference over project grants requested by public or semi-public institutions/organizations.. Organizations and projects that are most likely to achieve their objectives.. Organizations and projects that will have broad based effectiveness for the money invested.. Applicants should note that:.. It is not the Fund s intention to approve applications for organizations whose primary purpose is to disburse direct or indirect grants..     Descriptive info: How to apply for a project grant.. The application forms are available on the JHF website.. Application forms should be filled out on our website on or before 1 July 2015.. This deadline will be strictly adhered to.. Applications should be made for projects starting after 1 January of the following year.. If your organization submitted an application in the past year for a 2 or 3 year project, but only received a grant for 1 year, you can apply again for this same project.. Ordinarily, the Board of the JHF will decide on awards of grants in November of each year.. Applicants will be informed of the Board's decisions on or before the 31st of December.. Disbursement framework.. Organizations can apply for a 1 year project.. Organizations can only submit one application per year.. If an organization submits more than one application, the JHF will not take any of the applications into consideration.. Please note: If the JHF approves a project for more than 1 year, that organization cannot submit any new applications for those year(s) that the grants from the JHF have been  ...   documents should be send to the JHF by regular mail.. Except for the published activity reports, which must be translated into English, these documents do not need to be translated into English; the original language is allowed.. These must include a balance sheet, an income expenditure account per year and explanatory notes.. Even if you have sent the annual financial reports to our office already in the past, you should send them again.. A listing of your organization in the official public register;.. Articles of Association of your organization;.. The published activity reports of your organization for the past two years, these must be translated into English;.. Once a project has been completed, the organization shall promptly:.. send a project report;.. provide reliable evidence that the project has been carried out;.. provide a statement of revenues and expenditures of the project and an activity report.. The applicant should be aware about the fact that if incorrect or false reporting is submitted intentionally, the grant will be discontinued and/or revoked.. Honest mistakes could still be corrected.. Those who cheat or lie will be suspended for a year..
